#1 Way to Support Law Enforcement
Working Together to Support Law Enforcement
Helping Hit-and-run Tragedies (a.k.a. HHART) believes the first step to making actual change is to support law enforcement. Like with regular car accidents, hit-and-runs can result in serious bodily injury, property damage, and even death. Unlike your run-of-the-mill traffic accident, a hit-and-run that never gets solved leaves so many unanswered questions and very little room for the victim to get compensation for their loss, injuries, and pain. According to the data collected, they estimate that over 90% of hit-and-run accidents never get solved. Sadly, there are not enough resources and time available. According to law enforcement, just 8 to 10% of hit-and-run accidents are solved. While some of this is due to a lack of evidence, staffing shortages also play a significant role. According to the FATALITY ANALYSIS REPORTING SYSTEM (FARS), an unbelievable 2,005 hit-and-run deaths occurred in 2019 alone. That is 2,005 families who have had a loved one ripped away from them, creating a sense of grief and despair that never should have been.

Choose To Do
the Right Thing!
While facing the consequences is never fun, running from them is even worse. This is especially true regarding car accidents. A driver is far better off to stay and deal with the accident rather than leaving and facing hit and run charges. State law takes hit and run charges very seriously, which in turn means that drivers should take this sort of thing seriously as well. Even if the accident was not the driver’s fault, they can be charged with hit and run charges just for leaving the scene of the accident. If a driver wants to avoid the added criminal charges, they need to stay at the scene and follow the law. Not only is it the right thing to do by law, it is also the right thing to do morally. Help us support law enforcement and make a change.

What Is Considered
a Hit and Run?
HHART – Support Law Enforcement
A hit-and-run refer to cases where a vehicle is a contact vehicle in the accident and does not stop to render aid (this includes drivers who flee the scene on foot). Although a hit-and-run can also happen in parking lots or while parked on the street where someone hits another person’s vehicle and leaves the scene. Here the victim learns of the damage done after the accidents had happened, and the liable party is long gone. Hit-and-runs also affect pedestrians when a person is struck by a vehicle while walking. The person driving flees the scene. Every one of these incidents should never happen. We are better than this! We as a nation can do better! We believe being able to support law enforcement will help put an end to these devastating crimes.
